Women's Rights used Properly?
Everyone has seen or heard of the movie Mean Girls. This movie, among other movies, shows how some girls in high school and junior high act. In these movies the meanness of girls is a little extreme but not entirely false. There is so much name calling, back stabbing, plotting, and rumors among girls in school. Can’t we all just get over ourselves and let each other live a life how we want to live it? Perhaps some of the reasons we act so wrongly towards each other is because of the things we see in the movies I spoke of earlier.
Television programs are littered with women who fight and act out. Some of these shows are not fictional! Every day we are seeing more women committing crimes that we previously saw men commit. There are more women in the prisons than there used to be! What is happening to our women? I’m not saying that we should let these women off the hook but isn’t it interesting that we still want to be treated like ladies when we aren’t even acting like ladies?!?
Some of the most famous celebrities out there right now have coined the term of ‘bad girls’. Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton, Naomi Campbell, Britney Spears, you name them! These people should be so much more careful about the way they act. Little girls are going to see them and think that it’s cool to act like a freak. Even the girls our age are going to start acting like them because they saw Paris Hilton doing it! If you are smart, you will choose to act like a person who has good morals and values. There are those kind of people out there if you look hard enough!
This sudden outbreak of women who aren’t ladylike makes me wonder if this has anything do to with us wanting to be equal with men. Don’t you sometimes wish it was like how it was in the fifties or the twenties or the eighteen hundreds even when women were treated with respect? I hardly see that any more! In my seventeen magazine it had a section of how you should treat a woman on a date. They asked one man if he would open the car door for her and that sort of thing. He replied, “No! Why should I open the car door for her? She has hands, do it herself!” What have we come to? It’s great to be equal with men but we should still be held with a little bit of a higher degree than them, right? Yay for chivalry!
Girls, just try to act with some kind of dignity and have manners!
